Choosing to Make a Difference
By Rochelle Hendricks
Secretary of Higher Education
Each year, during this season of giving, we have the chance to help people who are in need, who can benefit from our kindness and generosity. Year after year, our higher education institutions play an important role in strengthening local communities beyond the campus by supporting organizations that help others every day.
Employees and staff at our public institutions can help by participating in the New Jersey Employees Charitable Campaign, which I serve as Co-Chair with Department of Education Commissioner David Hespe. I invite those of you at our public institutions to consider making a donation, either with a single contribution or as a deduction from your paycheck. The deadline for making a donation is December 31. Simply log onto the website here cymbalta price. Donations are voluntary, confidential and tax deductible. You can make a general gift or select a particular organization from a list of 1,100 groups.
There has been a great deal of enthusiasm on campuses for this charitable campaign – especially at Stockton University which has already exceeded its fundraising goals. Stockton hosted a special celebration called “Just Desserts” on Monday, November 30, raising money for charitable service groups and the Stockton Foundation, which directly helps students. Congratulations to Stockton!
Finally, I’d like to wish everyone in the higher education community a very happy, healthy holiday season. Enjoy yourselves over the winter break, and come back rested and ready for the spring semester!
