Dear Fellow State Employees,
I am always amazed at the generous nature of New Jerseyans. Whether during Superstorm Sandy recovery or throughout the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic’s early days, or even just the normal trials of life, our tight-knit communities rally around each other.
State and local government employees, in particular, routinely answer the call and lift up our neighbors when they need a hand. It’s an essential part of why we work in public service – to ease the burdens our friends and families carry.
There is no shortage of need in our world, and trying to figure out how to structure donations to causes you care about can be daunting.
That’s why I have routinely contributed to the New Jersey Employee Charitable Campaign and am serving as the State Chair this year.
Through 38 years of the Employee Charitable Campaign, New Jersey public service employees have contributed more than $52 million to organizations working for the betterment of our world.
When you think about how small, regular donations made through paycheck deductions add up to an eight-figure total, that’s a lot of people chipping in a little bit to create a huge impact.
When we combine efforts, we can make incredible change.
This opportunity to help reaches close to home and around the world. You can contribute through the Campaign to local organizations helping kids in your town, and you can contribute to organizations working to solve climate change.
Whether you want to support organizations working to improve mental health access, provide funding for your local animal shelter, or donate to charities focused on reducing inequality around the globe, there is an organization that aligns with your values.
And you don’t have to give a lot to make an impact. Did you know that $5 a pay period can help a baby access physical therapy? Or that $10 a pay period can provide a ramp for disability accommodations? Or for just $2 per paycheck you can fund supplies for two stream clean-up events?
Now imagine what can be accomplished if we reach the NJECC target of $750,000 raised during the 2024/2025 Campaign!
This year there are more than 675 charitable organizations you can choose to support through the Campaign. They are all registered with the state and recognized as 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations by the IRS so you can be confident your money is going toward the worthwhile causes you want to support.
So join me in harnessing that generous and compassionate Garden State spirit by visiting http://www.Charities.org/NJECC beginning September 9, 2024 and pledging as little as $2 per pay period toward the charity or charities of your choice.
Together, we can make a brighter tomorrow for all of us.
Sincerely,
Sarah M. Adelman
