What it is and how it works:
The NJECC is a 16-week campaign, taking place between September 15 – December 31 this year. During that time, we will feature 14 specific causes – a different cause each week – and will showcase some of the NJECC charities that address those causes.
As a donor, there a couple ways you can participate in and engage with these cause weeks:
(1) Attend Virtual Charity Fairs:
While the pandemic is preventing us from holding in-person charity fairs this year, that doesn’t mean you can’t connect with this year’s NJECC charities! We asked the participating charities to share videos, photos, and stories about their impact, and we will be sharing those with you through our weekly Virtual Charity Fairs.
Corresponding with each of the 14 cause weeks (click here for our cause week calendar) we’ll be featuring throughout the campaign, there will be a dedicated landing page on the donation portal, which will showcase charities you can support through the NJECC who address that featured cause. Those landing pages will be used to host our Virtual Charity Fairs.
To participate in each week’s Virtual Charity Fair, visit the NJECC donation portal at www.charities.org/NJECC.
On the donation portal home page (screenshot shown below), click on the “Featured Cause” button. From there, a landing page for that week’s featured cause will display – empowering you to “visit virtually” and engage with NJECC charities and the videos and stories they have shared to connect you with their mission and those they help.
(2) Connect with the NJECC and participating charities on social media:
We invite you to follow the NJECC on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram (and encourage your work colleagues to join you)! Between September 15 – December 31, we will be sharing examples of how your donation can have an impact and connect you with the NJECC charities and causes you can support through the New Jersey Employees Charitable Campaign. Plus, by following us on social media and sharing our posts – you’ll be helping us reach other New Jersey State Employees, empowering us to grow our campaign results and help even more charities and the important causes they address.
Follow us on social media:
Want to be a “Super Fan” for the NJECC? Can’t wait until one of our special cause weeks to post about that cause on social media? No need to wait. Download our social media kit! Complete with messages and graphics that we’ll be posting throughout the campaign, this kit makes it easy for you to post content promoting the campaign.
NOTE: We are making final edits to our 2020 NJECC Social Media Kit for employees to use. We will post a link on this page when it is ready to download. Until then, feel free to contact Sarah Ford at sford@charities.org to be added to our “Super Fan” social media list, and she’ll make sure you receive a copy of the kit once it becomes available.
(3) Donate!
Save the Date! The 2020 NJECC kicks off on Tuesday, September 15, 2020. Once you have had a chance to learn about the charities participating in this year’s campaign, visit the NJECC donation portal at www.charities.org/NJECC to make your pledge!
You have the option to donate to more than 800 charities that impact communities on a local, state, national or international level – and you can donate online via payroll deduction or credit card. You can support as many different charities as you want, as long as you donate a minimum of $52 to each charity (per state regulation).
After you make a donation, you will receive a special “I gave” badge, which you can place in your email signature or share on social media to show that #NewJerseyGives and encourage your colleagues to join in the fun.
(4) Share Your Selfie! Participate in our “I give because…” Video:
Anytime between September 15 – Dec 4, download one of our “Share your selfie” templates (they are in a Word document format). Briefly state the reason why you choose to give to NJECC charities and take a picture of your self holding the sign (you can either print a copy or fill it out electronically and display it on your computer while you take the picture/selfie). We will compile all the selfies we receive into a video to wrap-up the 2020 campaign in December, and to thank everyone for supporting the critical work our NJECC charities do to help our communities thrive.
